Mini Watercolor Workshop with my nephew Leon. He wished to learn painting with watercolors and so he'd his first contact with this gorgeous medium.  Painting with kids is always wonderful and he was very happy and relaxed.

Preparing a Toddler Workshop inspired by Jessica Durant gorgeous butterflies paintings. My sweet neighbor girls are so excited about these ideas and so I’m looking for the perfect way that we all have a lot of fun with pigments and water. I painted the butterflies with clear water and then put some drops of pigment into each one. I’m sure my little painter friends will enjoy this way of doing.

 Because we have a lot of rivers in the region around us and several birdbaths in our garden, dragonflies are often seen amongst us. Some are very tiny and royal blue, some really as big as my hand. This first attempt to the motive is a result of my Art Class at Jean Haines Art School online. I have struggled with the dark tones and this is really a little bit too dark, but nevertheless I love it and will do more with this color scheme.

Inspired and animated by the LANDSCAPE ESCAPE PAINTING for the MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK at the online class of JEAN HAINES I decide to paint this dandelion field as my first contribution. Since my early childhood days, I'm fascinated by spring meadows full of blooming dandelions. Heartwarming images, with father's hand creating crowns of dandelions for my sister and me come back to my mind. For the dandelion heads, I've lifted the pigments and ad some gouache on the wet paper, put salt in the middle and drop some light grey on it.

Inspired by Jean Haines Online Classes I made my first cat painting for more than one year and I have missed painting cats, very much. Jean's special technique is so very relaxing, so very Zen-like, I love it!

This is another watercolor after my own photography of the lakes Meissendorf, Germany during the wonderful watercolor workshop with Thomas Schaller at Chicago. For years I thought about painting this motive and Thom created such a great demo with a "bull eye" start for a soft background wash, that I decided immediately to select this as my motive. Thoms demo you can find in the collage below.

I started painting this view of one of my own photographs from the Red Haubarg Schleswig Holstein, Germany during the wonderful watercolor workshop with Thomas Schaller at Chicago, perfectly organized by Ingrid Albrecht. So much learned about picking the right object, composition, position of light and color choice. So all I need is time and practice to paint all the views and stories who I carry inside my head. 

***A Haubarg, rarely also Hauberg, is the typical farmhouse of the Eiderstedt peninsula on the northwest coast of Germany and is a type of Gulf house. It emerged in the late 16th century when West Frisian immigrants brought with them the Gulf type of farm building and it was to continue to be used until the late 19th century as a farmhouse. In the Netherlands these houses are called stolpboerderij.

The word "Haubarg" means a place for piling or stacking hay (see hooiberg). As a byre-dwelling, man and animal lived for centuries in haubargs under one roof, albeit in separate rooms. www.wikipedia

Today I've worked a little bit with my travel sketch book. This scene above was only a pencil sketch done during the Watercolor Workshop with Joseph Zbukvic, organized by EPC Art Courses, Angela Barbi in September 2018. Included in this puristic sketch are a lot of memories and so I've tried to give them life in this colored version of the sketch. It was a very hot afternoon at this day and I sat side by side with a good new friend under a sun umbrella and we both sketch this corner on the Placa del Prat de Sant Pere, Besalú while drinking a very tasty café cortado.

Mini Watercolor Workshop with my niece Lara-Marie. She wished to learn painting with watercolors and so she'd her first contact with this gorgeous medium.  Painting with kids is always wonderful and she was very happy and relaxed.

Weren't we diligent? We've started with some colorful warm up exercises after Jean Haines and then we took a life model - a fresh watermelons for a painting with a bit more definition, but without any drawing. 

The 4 paintings on the left side are Lara-Maries results and aren't they fantastic for her first time painting with watercolor!!

Fantastic organization by Angela Barbi - EPC Art-Courses , awesome group and a lovely experience. This one above is my last souvenirs that I've done completely during my stay there.
