I wasn't satisfied with the original painting on the encaustic board, so I tried washing off the pigment. Unfortunately, that only worked very poorly. I then primed the board again with Qor Aquarelle Ground. That worked even worse, and it resulted in a lot of vertical lines. However, as I thought about this motif, I realized the lines would fit the subject well.

 Gestern nachmittag hatte ich unerwartet frei und habe diese wunderbare Gelegenheit genutzt, um eine rasche Skizze und Farbstudie für mein nächstes Bild zu erstellen. Ich habe mich für die fantastischen Supergranulationsfarben von Schmincke entschieden und das spontane Ergebnis gefällt mir so gut, dass ich es gerne mit euch teile.

 I had an unexpected free time this afternoon and took advantage of this wonderful opportunity to do a quick sketch and color study for my next painting. I chose the fantastic super granulation colors from Schmincke and I like the spontaneous result so much that I'm happy to share it with you.

French Rivera, Ile de Porquerolles  The picturesque island is one of the four islands of Iles d'Hyeres and most likely, France’s best-kept secret - ok maybe it’s not so secret. But Porquerolles has remained throughout this time, unspoiled. I've visited this heaven on earth several times and can't wait to see it again. This painted view shows the gorgeous look on the coastline you have from many spots on it.

Porquerolles is the biggest of the three islands of Or in the Hyeres gulf. The village was first built in 1820, the lighthouse in 1837, and the church in 1850. After being owned by a succession of people, the island was bought in 1912 by Monsieur Fournier who apparently bought it as a wedding present for his wife.

Two hundred hectares of grapevines were planted and the vineyard later produced a top-quality wine that was one of the first to be classed "vins des Cotes de Provence". Today the three vineyards on the island produce wine that has an excellent reputation. The vineyards are associated with the Conservatoire Botanique National de Porquerolles which protects the island's heritage and environment. ©provence.web


The whole island is a gem and an insider tip for those who like small and not overcrowded spots for vacation.
