All about Autumn is lovely, sure, as a gardener, I'm not really a friend of bindweeds, but as a painter, I love all about this flower and so I'm very pleased about our new bindweed painting lesson at Jean Haines's Online Art School. www.watercolourinspiration.com The small one was my first attempt, the final version is the one above after the wonderful suggestions of Jean to connect the two elements flowers and berries.
The plan was coming back into the mood for some ink paintings. But after a long time not practicing this technique, the start really complicated and frustrating. This is my first presentable result. Planned was a white cat, but the painting had other plans with me and so it becomes a sweet calico cat. In Germany, we call this special tricolor female cats "Glückskatze", not to be confused with the Chinese porcelain cats.
Because we have a lot of rivers in the region around us and several birdbaths in our garden, dragonflies are often seen amongst us. Some are very tiny and royal blue, some really as big as my hand. This first attempt to the motive is a result of my Art Class at Jean Haines Art School online. I have struggled with the dark tones and this is really a little bit too dark, but nevertheless I love it and will do more with this color scheme. .
Painting rooster and chicken is so lovely and relaxing. This piece is an experimental one, I've added more and more background. (The image isn't the final version.) For this technique definitely less is more - okay I'll remember this for the next time time.
Today I've had a wet-on-wet technique studio day. I need much more practice with it and every time I try this, I discover that I'm not patient enough and destroy good first washes. Waiting for the right moment of dryness on the paper is absolutely necessary.
This weekend I thought a lot about the EPC Art watercolor workshop in Girona with Endre Penovác last year. So many wonderful memories! And so I've decided to paint some roosters and chicken.
Especially in Winter I love visiting the great river Elbe with it's wide open views and the serenity is feeding my soul. This is a quick exercise with ink in wet on wet technique.
Just back from a wonderful and very inspiring Workshop with Endre Penovác in Gerona, Spain.
Fantastic organization by Angela Barbi - EPC Art-Courses , awesome group and a lovely experience. This one above is my last souvenirs that I've done completely during my stay there.
This cat was my first painting during the beautiful Endre Penovác Workshop at Girona and she looks really awaiting a lot - I'm sure she was happy with all those lovely black and white cats created around her.

With the Cat series I'll started with my 3rd one painting during the Endre Penovác Workshop, because I love this one most. It's completely my own, because I use my own photography of Coralie (my cat) and I'm really satisfied with the whole composition.
