I'm still at my paper testing phase and this is a really fine paper, satin grained, lovely for smooth washes, with a lovely texture for the background. The other properties are exactly like the CANSON HÉRITAGE ROUGH.  Both papers worth more than one try.

 First let's talk about the title of this watercolor - SAVING NEMO - the massive consequences of the cute film FINDING NEMO are amongst other things are: 

"Over 1 million fish from the clownfish family are collected from the wild each year, causing significant population declines. Clownfish can be easily bred in captivity, so our solution is to supply stores with nursery bred fish. We also aim to educate consumers, and to lead scientific research focused on clownfish conservation.  ©www.savingemo.org"

Just received a new book from Kees van Aalst, so it needs only fresh white paper, some juicy colors, and a cool rosé secco. Perfect companions for this lovely summer evening. 

For my first exercise, I focused on the part of my garden in the right corner of this photo. Observing, visualizing, and then sketching without seeing on the paper, very gently with a pencil. It became darker and darker, so I had to improve, with my little palette, the things I remembered to see.  Above you can see the result, and I hope you enjoy it.

These lovely old doors with stone walls and hydrangeas are a memory to Brittany. In the first version it's a very rainy day without any sun, but me it was too dark and so I create my own weather and impression with a 2nd painting. Please tell me, which one do you like more?

May Day, known also as Labour Day (Maifeiertag) has traditionally been a politically heated national public holiday in Germany. It is linked with the topics of work, human rights and freedoms. Every year many demonstrations and marches organised by unions and interested parties take place across the country.
The real fun starts the night before with the annual Tanz in den Mai (Dance into May). It is a very special night of celebration in many parts of Europe with roots steeped in history. In Germany traditions including bonfires, the wrapping of the Maypole, dancing and partying into the early hours. And for the romantics at heart, the giving of a tree wrapped in streamers by an admirer.
Historically, witches night (Walpurgisnacht) was a Pagan tradition where witches saw in the arrival of spring. It has however, changed somewhat over time and now the focus is on music and dancing the night away.
