While painting African animals during the last weeks, I've had the feeling that the time is come for an African landscape painting too and here it is. It's my first work on Baohong watercolor paper and I like it a lot.

Done after a gorgeous, informative and very inspiring Tutorial at Tom Sheperd's Online Art School.
I've enjoyed the painting process a lot. But my result is a bit too dark and a bit too muddy. I'll try it again to get in the mood for more light and clearer colors. Looking a Tom's magical brushwork the whole session looks so easy, but OMG, it's not!!

How exciting!! We are on a real safari with Jean Haines, unbelievable many elephants around us and we have a lot of fun. All these magical colors of Africa, the unique light, and the beauty of these outstanding and mysterious giant animals fascinate me. I love this Art School of Jean Haines very much.

doing this on a paper with a warm-up color study and cling-film on it. yesterday I found this sheet again and discover an alligator in it. So I add some dark details and the eye. Don't he look friendly? I love the structures on his nose and hope you enjoy it too.
