  Yes, I confess, I love Winter with its gorgeous sundown colors, the silent poetic mood all around. Sure, with clean white snow it looks much better and we haven't had much snow during this winter, so I paint myself into a snow scene and dream about ancient times.

This submission included a lot of favorites, first: it is inspired by my favorite portrait painting master Ali Cavanaugh, second: it's painted on Aquarbord. A surface that I love a lot. And 3. painted with the layering technique, adding very soft layers to build up a semirealistic portrait

I don't really like some of the portraits I've painted over the past year. I know I can do better than that. And so I started to revise them. My first revised portrait is the double portrait of Emma and Hannah. These two girls are such wonderful and shining beauties that it is worth any effort to give them credit. I got Hannah (left) at the first attempt, but I failed with Emma‘s sweet soul. But now I‘m really satisfied. It's my late submission for the #51 LOST AND SOFT EDGES Challenge at @aligator_watercolor_community.

This is my first try on claybord and it's a very smooth surface to work on it. But it allows very fine details and painting on it is pure joy. Christmas is over and so for Santa's reindeer the job is done and all of them enjoy their well-deserved holidays.
