There's not much free time for painting at the moment so I do some more miniatures. Otherwise, I would be missing something.

Painting water animals is a great passion of mine. In a corner of our garden,
I found two old wooden panels and decided to try the watercolor primer from Schmincke on them. It works great!!

Porquerolles is the biggest of the three islands of Or in the Hyeres gulf. The village was first built in 1820, the lighthouse in 1837 and the church in 1850. After being owned by a succession of people, the island was bought in 1912 by Monsieur Fournier who apparently bought it as a wedding present for his wife.

Two hundred hectares of grapevines were planted and the vineyard later produced a top quality wine which was one of the first to be classed "vins des Cotes de Provence". Today the three vinyards on the island produce wine which has an excellent reputation. The vineyards are associated with the Conservatoire Botanique National de Porquerolles which protects the island's heritage and environment. ©provence.web

The whole island is a gem and an insider tip for those who like small and not overcrowded spots for vacation.

While painting this lovely landscape I dive deep into my memories. Visiting Cadaqués 2017 for the first time and falling in love was one! This remarkable place where Dali spent most time of his life from 1930 to 1982, has so much beauty and the whole coastline is a paradise for painters. So I must come back, that's sure!

The bright shining faces of sunflowers are the perfect sign for the full summer season. For years I'd the idea to paint again a watercolor on canvas and this time I took a normal canvas and start to paint without any preparation of the canvas. And it had worked!! The drying periods were really long, but then I was able to paint in layers. After the complete drying of the painting, it got a fixative for watercolours to protect it.

Nothing better during a busy week at work, than painting every evening some strokes on this "calming down piece". Inspired again by a wonderful tutorial at Jean Haines online Art School. www.watercolourinspiration.com I couldn't resist adding some bees to the final version. Summer is so beautiful in the garden.
