If you see Hanover's town hall for the first time, you think it's a palace or castle. But it's not, it a built as a town hall after 13 years of construction and opened in 1913. I love all about this magnificent building, especially winter shows it by its fairytale side, even more from the Masch Park side.

The lighthouse Westerhever is a well-known lighthouse in Germany, but for me, it is a symbol of wonderful relaxed days at St. Peter-Ording and the beautiful seashore there. For years I've painted it during the seasons a thousand times and surely more will follow.

For my work, I decided on the western facade of the castle, which is rarely or not at all shown in paintings. This is completely hidden behind trees in summer and you can hardly see the castle. But in winter, and especially when there is snow, the moated castle character of the facility comes into its own. Celle Castle was built around 980 as a fortified tower with the attributes of a water castle.
Otto the Strict continued developing the building in 1292. Remnants of this era are the cellar vault and the lower floors of the watch tower. The current Celle Castle has its first documented mentioning as “Castrum Celle” in 1315. ... for more information: Celle Castle

inspired by the last tutorial of Jean Haines about bluebells woods in England. I immediately remembered the gorgeous crocus meadows on Sylt which we saw during a short holiday in March 2019.

After an endless time without traveling finally at the sea again and the endless beaches of St. Peter-Ording are the perfect destination for a short break. Of course, I must do some quick sketches in my travel sketchbook.

Once a year in August a harness and thoroughbred racing event takes place on the North Sea beachside of Duhnen. It all began in 1902. It's the only one of this kind in the World.
This is my first attempt at the theme and I've done it without any primary drawing, only thinking about movement and colors. Just in the way I've learned during my time at Jean Haines Art School.

The "Roter Sand" lighthouse, now a listed building, is a historic building northeast of the island of Wangerooge. The imposing and at the same time picturesque building with the eye-catching bay windows is located under the coordinates 53 ° 51´ 18 N / 08 ° 04´ 54 E in the North Sea. The well-known lighthouse is considered the first-ever offshore construction and has shown the way to ships for 97 years since 1885 with its two-wick oil lamp. ©www.roter-sand.de

I returned to full imperial sheet and it feels so right and good to paint again on large formats My inner voice told me that it's time again for loose landscapes and so I started with a lovely loose wash inspired by Gerard Hendriks
