Jedes Jahr zu dieser Zeit überkommt mich eine unsagbare Sehnsucht nach dem Meer und weil es in diesem Sommer wohl nicht klappen wird, dorthin zu fahren, male ich mich eben ans Meer.

Every year at this time, I am overcome by an indescribable longing for the sea, and because I probably won't be able to go there this summer, I just paint myself by the sea.

The lighthouse Westerhever is a well-known lighthouse in Germany, but for me, it is a symbol of wonderful relaxed days at St. Peter-Ording and the beautiful seashore there. For years I've painted it during the seasons a thousand times and surely more will follow.

Missing the sea - so I paint myself there. This is an exercise after Nita Engle to create light areas with masking fluid. I've never used so much masking fluid in one watercolor, but in this special motive it fits perfect. Love the light glowing on the waves. Hope you like it too.
