For my work, I decided on the western facade of the castle, which is rarely or not at all shown in paintings. This is completely hidden behind trees in summer and you can hardly see the castle. But in winter, and especially when there is snow, the moated castle character of the facility comes into its own. Celle Castle was built around 980 as a fortified tower with the attributes of a water castle.

Otto the Strict continued developing the building in 1292. Remnants of this era are the cellar vault and the lower floors of the watch tower. The current Celle Castle has its first documented mentioning as “Castrum Celle” in 1315. ... for more information: Celle Castle

I love to paint this special house (located in France) and I've painted it often, each version is so different and I can see my own development in watercolor - and the longing for France, of course. The prompt for Day 2 #WorldWatercolorMonth is "in the shade" and I think it could be fit.
