It was a short Iceland trip years ago, but it was during wintertime and full of life-long memories. I was so lucky that our golden-circle bus tour stopped near a small church so that I could take some photos of the iconic Icelandic horses grazing in the distance.

This is my first try on claybord and it's a very smooth surface to work on it. But it allows very fine details and painting on it is pure joy. Christmas is over and so for Santa's reindeer the job is done and all of them enjoy their well-deserved holidays.

This watercolor is done on a creative background wash, something I really like to do. Do you remember my animal calendar project - month animal? It's completely created in this way. Painting rooster and chicken is so lovely and relaxing. This piece is an experimental one, I've added more and more background. (The image isn't the final version.) For this technique definitely less is more - okay I'll remember this for the next time time.
