Today is Studio Day - Working loose, without any drawing. This is a warm up for a larger version. I love this paper very much. This was the first wash and I decided to add more darkness behind the mountains. It creates more depth and more light - as you can see at the top.

pure watercolor on canvas

This is a project I've been looking forward to for a long time - a pure watercolor painting on a canvas. The canvas was primed with AQUA PRIMER FINE by SCHMINCKE several times. Thereafter, I painted the motif with AQUAFIX so that the colors blend stably with the ground. It is very important for each new color to dip the brush after these steps: WATER - COLOR - AQUAFIX. The finished and dry image was finally protected with WATERCOLOR fixative.

Es hat eine lange Tradition bei mir, einmal im Jahr male ich ein Pilzbild. Ich MUSS es einfach, liebe ich doch besonders die Steinpilze, ihre knuffigen Formen, ihren Duft und natürlich ihren so wundervollen Geschmack. In diesem Jahr habe ich mich für Negativmalerei ohne jede Vorzeichnung entschieden.

LES COULEURS DU SUD

Randvoll mit wundervollen, unvergesslichen Eindrücken und gut erholt zurück aus dem herrlichen Süden Frankreichs zieht es mich zurück an die Staffelei. In diesem Urlaub habe ich überhaupt nicht gemalt und es hat sich gut angefühlt. Umso mehr Lust habe ich jetzt. Eigentlich sollte dieses hier es nur ein Vorentwurf für eine größere Version werden, aber dann haben mir die Farben und die Stimmung so viel Spaß gemacht, dass ich es einfach fertigstellen musste. Jetzt werde ich mich wohl für ein sehr großes Format entscheiden und sehen, wie es sich umsetzen lässt. Die einzelnen Arbeitsschritte, Farbwahl und Strukturgestaltung könnt Ihr im 

WASH A WEEK CHALLENGE 

genau betrachten und auch lesen, warum ich diese Version für nicht richtig geglückt halte. Und doch mag ich sie so gern, dass ich sie Euch nicht vorenthalten möchte.
