Autumn is near and the time for paper lanterns walking is here.

To outwit the darkness that creeps across the country earlier and earlier in the autumn, children make lanterns with colorful luminous paper pictures or hollow out pumpkin and sugar beet heads and parade through the streets with them. Parading through the dimly dark or foggy streets with a brightly shining moon, a shining sun, a happy animal face or a monster-faced lantern is fun.

In some areas, the 'lantern parade' begins as early as September, and reaches its peak in the first days of November and on St. Martin's Day. Everywhere you see bright strings of lights parade through the streets in the evening. It looks beautiful. It helps us forget the darkness a little, and we look forward to the pre-Christmas period with its mysteries and celebrations.

I wasn't satisfied with this version and have darkened the painting. Now I'm unsure if this was the right decision. Whatever, I've learned a lot and this is an exercise for a larger version so everything is okay.

Nothing better during a busy week at work, than painting every evening some strokes on this "calming down piece". Inspired again by a wonderful tutorial at Jean Haines online Art School. www.watercolourinspiration.com I couldn't resist adding some bees to the final version. Summer is so beautiful in the garden.

It's a busy time at the moment, but I decided to take up again my warm-up exercises. There are many projects on my easel, waiting for a concentrate finish, but at the moment it's hard to find time for this. So I only do loose washes and enjoy the process and the vibrant late Summer colors.

Back from a famous watercolor workshop by Jean Haines in Hampshire.
Heart and brain full of energy and ideas for new paintings and very thankful to have had this great opportunity. Jean Haines is not only an immensely talented, world famous and highly sought-after artist, warm-hearted, extremely humorous person, but also she is an extremely dedicated teacher. During this workshop was not just impetus, guidance and new ideas but passion and enthusiasm for our great shared love

Watercolor Paintings

I'm sure, we'll meet in future and look forward for see her again and paint together.

At every of the 4 workshop days I've met wonderful new people and have shared unique and beautiful moments.

Happy and creative new month. And of course - may light and color be with you.

yours, isabella

this i perfect example for to much fiddling and the wrong color choice. but every mistake is a change to grow up as an artist and so this is my

 9/31 painting for

I wish you all a beautiful and creative weekend and let's strong stay together, now more than ever.
It is our duty to oppose the suffering and terror of the world something so wonderful
and placid as our joy and working together with our beloved watercolors.
