A quick Christmas painting warm-up sketch with a hint of gold. This motive was my last year's Christmas card design and it's so fun to create, as you know, bigger paper, bigger fun!

Holiday Fun with a Mini Workshop

.

Mini Watercolor Workshop with my niece Lara-Marie. She wished to learn painting with watercolors and so she'd her first contact with this gorgeous medium.  Painting with kids is always wonderful and she was very happy and relaxed.

Weren't we diligent? We've started with some colorful warm up exercises after Jean Haines and then we took a life model - a fresh watermelons for a painting with a bit more definition, but without any drawing. 

The 4 paintings on the left side are Lara-Maries results and aren't they fantastic for her first time painting with watercolor!!

This was a very busy weekend. In main the time with gardening and framing and hanging most of my paintings at home (29!!) in new white frames. It looks great and so I'm well prepared for an exhibition. Maybe at the end of 2018 or 2019 ... 

This rose watercolor is my kind of "sundowner" and I love these little steps on it, so relaxing and I enjoy it very much. I think there is not really much to do on this. Let's wait and see, what the painting will say to me tomorrow. ...

It "greens" so green

Welcome May!! This is my favorite month of the year 💚 my special month with all its wonderful white and green in the awakening garden and nature around. So no wonder that the range of the monthly colors is full of lovely and amazing greens. Starting with some gorgeous loose warm up washes and the sweet lilies of the valley in my garden.

I've not really time to paint during the last weeks, but today I decided to make some calming down washes with the new DANIEL SMITH color from the dot card and I love the AUSSIE RED and of course the WISTERIA in interaction with the QUINACRIDONE LILAC. I know I've missed IN March the COLORS OF THE MONTH, so these dot card will be my 

APRIL - COLORS OF THE MONTH 


And now I'm in the mood for more .. my sea turtle needs a little bit darker shapes and contrasts for finishing and I had a lot of new ideas for more paintings.

After gardening the whole weekend this is just a doodle on a warm up exercise background with green and yellow (February Colors)
 and cling-film structures. It's just for fun and I hope you enjoy it as much as I've during playing.

Enlightened February

.

Time for a new color scheme and so I've enlightened the grey in grey mood of February with a lot of yellows, glowing oranges and Spring fresh greens. Every month of 2017 I'll looking for colors in my palette that I haven't use long time and play with them. In most cases a new favorite color will probably emerge. My first warm-ups with this gorgeous glowing February palette are little dancing daisies.

Beating Blues

Enjoying the January Challenge with Jean Haines !!

First I've looked for blues (and of course violets) that I haven't use long time. Startet with only two of them, adding a little bit salt and let it flow over the January white paper.  My fave for today is the MIJELLO BLUE by MIJELLO in combination with BRILLIANT RED VIOLET from SCHMINCKE. 

This is was such a fantastic warm up for a lovely studio afternoon.

The first wash on this was done as a warm-up exercise during the  fabulous workshop by Jean Haines two weeks ago and I've immediately discovered one butterfly. Now at home I look at this exercise again and the more I dive into this gorgeous flowing colors and textures, the more butterflies appear. Sure it's really abstract, but if you believe in fairies, you could see them too.
