This beloved line comes from his 1861 fairy tale titled simply "The Butterfly". Preparing a Toddler Workshop inspired by Jessica Durant gorgeous butterflies paintings. My sweet neighbor girls are so excited about these ideas and so I’m looking for the perfect way that we all have a lot of fun with pigments and water. I painted the butterflies with clear water and then put some drops of pigment into each one. I’m sure my little painter friends will enjoy this way of doing.

The first wash on this was done as a warm-up exercise during the fabulous workshop by Jean Haines two weeks ago and I've immediately discovered one butterfly. Now at home I look at this exercise again and the more I dive into this gorgeous flowing colors and textures, the more butterflies appear. Sure it's really abstract, but if you believe in fairies, you could see them too.
