I rediscovered our garden toad and realized that although I have painted a few frogs, I have never painted a toad. On this first, still lovely warm autumn day, it is simply wonderful to work outside.
I started with the eye without any preliminary drawing and then slowly built up the toad and its surroundings around it.
.
Every year again I must paint some autumnal motives like mushrooms, paper lanterns, falling leaves etc. and I hope you enjoy my passion as much as I do.

Great Lessons!

Sometimes we lost inspiration and motivation for painting, because of life's hick-ups. I'm sure all of us know exactly what I mean. To come back into the right mood to enjoy creating art, I know nothing better than the gorgeous loose style of Jean Haines. She's so generous that she offers some great free online tutorials at her art school and this painting is inspired by the last one. A fantastic lesson to paint Delphiniums.

The background wash was done as a color testing piece for "Winter has come!" and I was very pleased with it. Today I'd a second look at it and I discovered an owl waiting for me there.

It's my first attempt at the "Sleeping Dog Challenge" at Jean Haines Online Art school. Sleeping cats would be sure easier to paint for me.

Doing some sketches inspired by @jeanhaines #onlineartschool. The goal is to paint people in motion. Since I‘m planning a large „summer at the sea“ piece, I try to paint cliff or water jumps.

I have never seen a hedgehog under cherry blossoms but I‘m sure they will enjoy it too.

here’s to the things that are yet to come, and to the memories that we hold.”
