A brand new candidate for my Veggie Series inspired by the "vegetable month" at Jean Haines's online Art School www.watercolourinspiration.com and what a!! Cauliflower might be the most versatile vegetable. It is a real all-rounder when it comes to versatility in preparation. Anything goes, from Mexican to Indonesian. Youn can roast it, steam it, grill it like a steak, puree it like mashed potatoes, or grate it and eat it like rice. Cauliflower is a whole lot more than just a side dish, but is also great for easy meal prep and exactly what we need to carry us through a busy week.

Painting water animals is a great passion of mine. In a corner of our garden,

Porquerolles is the biggest of the three islands of Or in the Hyeres gulf. The village was first built in 1820, the lighthouse in 1837, and the church in 1850. After being owned by a succession of people, the island was bought in 1912 by Monsieur Fournier who apparently bought it as a wedding present for his wife.

more of my Porquerolles works

Two hundred hectares of grapevines were planted and the vineyard later produced a top-quality wine that was one of the first to be classed "vins des Cotes de Provence". Today the three vineyards on the island produce wine that has an excellent reputation. The vineyards are associated with the Conservatoire Botanique National de Porquerolles which protects the island's heritage and environment. ©provence.web


The whole island is a gem and an insider tip for those who like small and not overcrowded spots for vacation.

I love to paint Physalis and every year again I MUST do this. Since three years they grow in my garden and it's so lovely to watch these orange points of happiness in autumn.

Below you can see the first stopped version, but after some days looking at it, I've missed depth and so I've added some hints of Hydrangeas in the background. I've lost now a little bit the light, but for me I've won more complexity. Sometimes one must risk something. What's your opinion on this?

And more primroses - I couldn't resist to paint more and more of these lovely flowers, even their name sounds like Spring. Over the year I've plant many of them into my garden and they feels very comfort so many place are over and over covered with lovely yellow, pink and blue little stars of primroses. In this version I've tried a little more abstraction and I'm really happy with this result and hope you like it too.

The polar bear is a threatened species since 2008 and this is reason enough to include this awesome animal in my monthly series. This is a new series, it's planned for each month an animal painted in a square format with a loose background wash.  Now I've already 5 months: I have a bunny 4U- for March, Duckling - for April, Barn Owl - for October, Little Hedgehog - for November,
