 A question of backgrounding is my actual theme. And this portrait comes to my mind when I think about how important a background is. I reworked it today, and I like how it turned out and hope you do too.

 The whole world is celebrating Jane Austen's 250th Birthday, and so I do. I decided to paint a series about her wonderful stories, which I have enjoyed in several film versions. This second painting, a scene with Marianne Dashwood sitting at the seaside from the film "Sense and Sensibility" is inspired by Blanca Álvarez Sanchez lovely tutorial on Patreon. 

Painting wet-in-wet is very challenging for me at any time, and I struggle with this technique repeatedly.

Dieses kleine Bild ist eine Illustration für eines meiner Gedichte. Ehrlich gesagt, hatte ich es gänzlich vergessen, jedoch ist es von einem freundlichen Leser in meinem Poesie-Blog "ausgegraben" worden und die Illustration, die ich damals kombiniert hatte, gefällt mir heute nicht mehr. So habe ich sie neu gestaltet. 

Hier das Gedicht um das es geht: 

Wunschhut

ich wünsche mir
einen üppigen Hut
darauf soll ein prachtvoller
Garten erblühen

mit Blumen in allen
Nuancen der Welt
auch Vögelchen, die
vor Fröhlichkeit sprühen

sie sollen ruhig nisten
mir wär‘ das nur recht
ihr Zwitschern vertreibt
die düsteren Töne

aus Stroh sollt' er sein
fein geflochten und hell
ein Gespinst für das
Lichte und Schöne

die Krempe ganz breit
und mit Bändern aus Samt
ich will ihn ja fest
an mich binden

denn unter dem Hut
das weiß ich genau
wird Trübsal mich
niemals mehr finden

Oh, it wasn't easy to catch him for a portrait; he was so swamped during this heavy blizzard. He had to help the lighthouse keeper so that all the other fishermen could find their way home for Christmas. Catching a delicious fish for Christmas dinner, so I had to do a speedy job and PLOP!! He disappears!
