The whole world is celebrating Jane Austen's 250th Birthday, and so I do. I decided to paint a series about her wonderful stories, which I have enjoyed in several film versions. This first painting, a famous scenery from the film "Pride and Prejudice" is inspired by Blanca Álvarez Sanchez lovely tutorial on Patreon.
Painting wet-in-wet is very challenging for me at any time.

During our Christmas family visit, my over 90 years old daddy talked about the Christmas times long ago, when he wents in the woods and brought a Christmas tree at home, cut by himself, in a fir wood full of snow and silence.

This is another watercolor after my own photography of the lakes Meissendorf, Germany during the wonderful watercolor workshop with Thomas Schaller at Chicago. For years I thought about painting this motive and Thom created such a great demo with a "bull eye" start for a soft background wash, that I decided immediately to select this as my motive. Thoms demo you can find in the collage below.

There is a privacy about it which no other season gives you.... In spring, summer and fall people sort of have an open season on each other; only in the winter, in the country, can you have longer, quiet stretches when you can savor belonging to yourself.

Traveling through Scotland is a lifelong dream for me, and I would surely visit Broch Tuarach, in reality, Midhope Castle, located on the Hopetoun estate, just west of South Queensferry, where several scenes from the OUTLANDER series were filmed.
