Trying taking part in Artist's Photo, You paint it! the challenge at SAA, but I, unfortunately, missed the correct date.

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

this is just a 30 minute warm-up/exercise for a larger version to get in the mood for swans. I've started without any drawing at the eyes and beaks. Then drawing a very soft pencil contour around the swan, wet the area. Now I've used the blues (DANIEL SMITH PRUSSIAN, COBALT BLUE, COBALT TEAL BLUE) and put some controlled salt pieces into the wet areas of blue.
